WELCOME

Hi. My name is Kevin Rose. Here I share my thoughts, ideas, and random things I find online.  For work, I'm the founder and site architect of Digg, and a co-founder at Revision3 and Pownce (acquired by SixApart).  When the internet is off, I climb rocks, drink tea/wine, read books, and explore San Francisco. Thanks for visiting.

Great news that it will soon be in the App Store. I had been hesitant to jail break.

Thanks for the update/review Kevin. It will nice not to need a jailbroken iPhone to use this amazing service. However, I still have a jailbroken iPhone for one reason and one reason only. THEMES. I really think Apple needs to allow theming and I don't see why it would be an big issue for them. Here are some great screen shots of themed iPhones.

Nice demo. Thanks for the look into the preferences.

Very cool. I recently unjailbroke my phone because I was having problems with crashing (Safari, some apps) and battery life. I only jailbroke it in the first place so I could use Qik. Can't wait until this is officially released... I would gladly pay for it if they decide to charge.

PS - Glad to see you have BeatMaker!

I am using Qik on my Jailbroken iPhone and what you were showing looks exactly like the version I am using. Whats the build number of the version you are using Kevin?

Looks extremely solid. I'm really looking forward to when this hits. As a new iPhone user (as of last week) it sort of blew my mind that the phone doesn't have any sort of video apps.

Looks cool. I noticed you have a DiggNation app, how cool would it be if Revision 3 released an app that could stream all of their shows?

I CAN NOT WAIT!!! I will be streaming UFC ringside at no time wuh hah haha hahaha.. Thanks Kevin for the heads up, I need to invest some moneys in Qik Quick.. haha

About time we have some way to capture video off the iPhone...can't wait!

Dang, can't wait for this one. More or less video capture for the iphone, love it.

How is the GPS accuracy on this? I know a problem I have with Google Maps's GPS via a cell phone is that your location is sometimes off by almost a mile.

Looks great...Now I just need an iPhone. Sigh

Come on Kevin... Apple hasn't open such access to the iphone's video system. It isn't coming to the appstore unless QIK and Apple have worked something out. But in all fairness, if that is the case. Apple would likely give that same access to all developers.

Sweet - i wanna use. Is it free?

Are there any others that are cool too?

Hi Kevin! Nice app review, I also did my first iphone app 1 month ago and I would love you to review it, its a nice little game called Fuzzle. You can see my introductory video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU_0MrUjjqE

How interesting that Mr. Rose always has everything before they are even though of releasing. Well if I ever get an iPhone I will definitely check this out.

The apple store must have a very convoluted set of requirements for applications if a qik videostreaming app is permitted but a regular videocamera app never makes it to the itunes store. Perhaps it has something to do with the iphone not having a simple way to export non-photo files to a computer, still it strikes me as weird.
(jailbreaking kills the stability too much to be compensated for by a video app, imo)

So, where's the Qik app? Looking through the comments the chance of this coming through is rather low. What about it? Any updates?
